The French salon of the 17th & 18th centuries, we are told by Wikipedia, was a gathering of stimulating people under the roof of an inspiring hostess. Their aim was to amuse one another and to refine their taste and increase their knowledge through conversation and readings, often consciously following the poet Horace's definition of the aims of poetry - 'to please and educate'.

What better way to describe the aims of a Whisky Wine & Words tasting event!
A present day setting in which fine Italian wines and Scotch whiskies of character can be enjoyed and more fully understood, where conversation will stem not only from an appreciation of the liquid in your glass, but from a line of verse, a snatch of traditional song, a folktale or legend, the evocation of a moment in history.

Our events are designed to suit any audience and can be conducted in English or Italian - or both!

Location: Cuciniamoci, Via Fogliano 2, Rome. 20:30 hrs.
www.cuciniamoci.it

Description:          From Glasgow to Oban and the magical Isle of Skye.
A virtual tour of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries, with musical, historical, literary - and of course culinary - interludes!

From the friendly and informal surroundings of Palma d'Onofrio's cooking school, CUCINIAMOCI, we set off on the third stage of our virtual tour of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries. Palma has created a menu to accompany three single malt whiskies and a whisky liqueur which evoke the character of three very different regions of Scotland. Accompanied by well-loved traditional songs Rachel will guide the participants from 'The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond' along the 'Road to the Isles' and 'Over the Sea to Skye' to smell, sip and savour some of the distinctive single malts crafted by the distilleries along the way.

Here are the evening's whiskies:
Glengoyne10 year old (Glasgow), Oban 14 year old (Oban) & Talisker 10 year old (Isle of Skye)

This event will be conducted in Italian but there will be some English 'subtitles' for those who need them!

Cost of the evening: €35. Places are limited so please book by the evening of Wednesday, December 2. The earlier the better!
