The French salon of the 17th & 18th centuries, we are told by

Their aim was to amuse one another and to refine their taste and increase
their knowledge through conversation and readings, often consciously following
the poet Horace's definition of the aims of poetry - 'to please and educate'.
What better way to describe the aims of a Whisky Wine & Words tasting event!
A present day setting in which fine Italian wines and Scotch whiskies of character can be enjoyed and more fully understood, where conversation will stem not only from an appreciation of the liquid in your glass, but from a line of verse, a snatch of traditional song, a folktale or legend, the evocation of a moment in history.
Our events are designed to suit any audience and can be conducted in English or Italian - or both!

| Description: | The venue, Villa Maple Woods, is a renovated ancient 'casale', the country home of Allen & Farhana Rahman.
The region is beautiful at this time of the year with leaves just beginning to change colour, while the lake, Lago del Salto, nestles in the valley just a few minutes drive from the villa. A similar lunch event in May, held in conjunction with the Canadian Club of Rome to celebrate the arrival of summer was a great success! The September event will celebrate the departure of summer and include an extraordinary arts and crafts fair. Many talented friends in Italy will exhibit items including paintings, sea shell and drift wood lamps, upholstered pouffes, hand made jewellery, jams & preserves, olive based products and much, much more. 10 % of all sale proceeds will go through the Canadian Club to the Wakefield Grannies who support South African AIDS orphans and the grandmothers who look after them. We are delighted that founding member, granny and film-maker Brenda Rooney will be present at the event. |
